vivo X200 Ultra review

vivo X200 Ultra in for review 2025 You can’t have it — so that’s why you want it, right? Well, no. We already know we’ll want the vivo X200 Ultra, and it has nothing to do with scarcity. It’s about what it brings to the table — an incredible camera experience — just as we saw with the X100 Ultra before it. The fact that it’s not widely available just adds to the frustration; it remains one of the tech world’s more persistent injustices.

With the X200 Ultra, vivo made an interesting choice: it swapped out the 1-inch main sensor for a slightly smaller 1/1.28″ sensor. On paper, that’s a downgrade. But to balance things out, they’ve paired it with a 35mm equivalent lens — a bold move that, until now, has mostly been a niche feature found on nubia’s devices. It might be a subtle way to draw attention away from the smaller sensor, or perhaps vivo genuinely sees the creative potential in that focal length. Time will tell.

The ultrawide camera, on the other hand, gets a proper upgrade. It now uses the same large sensor as the main camera, replacing the smaller 1/2.0″ sensor from the previous model. The 200MP 1/1.4″ sensor on the 85mm telephoto lens remains unchanged — and with good reason. It was already excellent. In fact, with this setup, the X200 Ultra essentially gives you three ‘main’ cameras on the back, complemented by one of the most capable front-facing cameras you’ll find on any smartphone.

Elsewhere, the changes are more iterative. The latest and greatest Snapdragon processor replaces last year’s chip, and the battery capacity sees a modest increase. And that’s about it.

Well — almost. vivo is also offering a new optional Photography Kit: a dedicated case with a battery grip and a telephoto extender lens. We’ll be taking a closer look at that as well.
