JBL’s Constant Curvature Array technology meets this challenge and goes even further. At the heart of the system is the VRX waveguide, which positions three compression drivers along a continuous arc. This configuration allows the drivers to function acoustically as a single unit, significantly boosting both power handling and output compared to traditional single-driver systems.
As more enclosures are added, they form a seamless, uninterrupted arc, with all drivers working in perfect harmony—just like one extended waveguide. The result is exceptional output coherence and remarkably clear, high-frequency performance, regardless of the array size or configuration. JBL’s innovative approach delivers both power and precision in a scalable, compact format.

The JBL VRX Series makes this easy with its built-in Array Configuration Selector—a set of convenient switches on each enclosure that control the output of the high-frequency drivers.
This built-in amplitude shading feature allows the upper enclosures in an array to deliver greater output, ideal for reaching distant areas like balconies, while the lower enclosures can be attenuated for closer audience zones such as front rows. The result is precise, even sound coverage throughout the entire venue, with each area fine-tuned for seamless, balanced performance.

Driven by Crown® Technology
Developed in collaboration with Crown International, the ultra-compact, high-power JBL DrivePack® DPC-2 amplifier module features advanced Class D digital amplification courtesy of Crown. At the core of its design is DBT™ (Dual-Bridged Technology), which connects discrete amplifier channels directly to each voice coil in the Differential Drive® loudspeaker, maximizing performance and control.
The DPC-2 also incorporates Crown’s innovative BCA™ (Balanced Current Amplification) Class-I circuitry, complete with temperature-compensated modulation and cutting-edge feedback systems for superior stability and accuracy. VRX900-Series enclosures are crafted from high-quality birch plywood and finished with JBL’s tough DuraFlex™ coating. Reinforced with heavy bracing, these cabinets are exceptionally durable, rigid, and virtually free from resonance. The heavy-duty steel grilles, lined internally with acoustically transparent foam, offer added protection for the drivers without compromising sound quality.
User-Friendly Rigging
Quick and easy setup and takedown are essential for delivering high-quality sound reinforcement while staying on schedule and within budget. JBL’s exclusive integral rigging hardware for the VRX900-Series enables enclosures to be securely and rapidly connected by simply swinging a hinged bar into place and locking it with the included quick-release pins. For flown arrays, the optional VRX-AF or VRX-SMAF array frames attach directly to the rigging hardware, providing a streamlined and elegant suspension system. Additionally, a second array frame can be installed at the bottom of the array for applications requiring steep downward aiming.
